Coming from a humble background in a village in Ballari district, with father a telephone mechanic in BSNL, Mohan went on to acquire a B.E. from NITK Surathkal and an M. Tech. from BITS Pilani, and became a Software Engineer in MNC.

While studying in Hagari Bommana Halli, Ballari District, many of his friends dropped out of school after 7 and 10th standard and had to work to provide for their families. This fact agonized him for decades. While working in Mumbai as a software engineer, one fine day, he decided to return back to Namma Bengaluru to co-found Aarushi Foundation to support education of needy children. He has been instrumental in changing the trajectory of lives of several hundred children in past seven years.

While helping a few children get good education felt good, it was clear that lakhs of children were left behind. Good quality education in government schools was the only scalable approach, and he could make it happen only by becoming a policy maker.

Began his political career by contesting 2013 assembly election as an independent candidate in Bellari.

• Joined AAP as it demonstrated the viability of honest, pro-people politics.

Worked in Bellari to build awareness about honest politics; built a team for Hosapete, contested 2014 Loksabha elections from Chitradurga and got 15000 votes.

Participated in the movements to fight Dalit atrocities; e.g. Chalo Udupi, Chalo Tumakuru and Chalo Gudibande. Joined five-day hunger strike for saving Lokayukta in Karnataka.

As a State Co-Convenor, traveled across Karnataka for building organization and spreading awareness about honest politics; took charge of Ballari, Chitradurga, Davanagere and Ramanagara.
